not only... but also

だけでなく adds a second item to a first, often paired with も in the second clause. Attach it to a plain-form verb/adjective or a bare noun. It broadens the statement: not just this, but that as well.

  Kare wa eigo dake de naku, chuugokugo mo hanaseru.

  He can speak not only English but also Chinese.

• この店みせは安やすいだけでなく、おいしい。
